Drift Atlanta Cancelled for 2020
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and Formula DRIFT announced today that due to ongoing concerns with the COVID-19 global pandemic, Drift Atlanta has been cancelled. The 2020 edition had initially been rescheduled for July 3-4 after the pandemic forced postponement from its original May date.
Refunds for tickets purchased through Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will be issued automatically within the next 14 days for all Drift Atlanta ticket and canopy orders placed through Michelin Raceway’s website and ticket line. Tickets purchased from Formula DRIFT will be issued a full refund within the same time period via their ticket agent.
“While this is certainly not the news we were hoping to give our fans, our top priority remains the safety of our guests and clients and we feel this decision reflects that,” said Rick Humphrey, president and general manager of Michelin Raceway. “These are challenging times for live events, and we’re hopeful that fans will be back at the race track soon.”
His sentiments were echoed by Jim Liaw, president of Formula DRIFT, “The decision to cancel Drift Atlanta was difficult but necessary for the safety of all fans and participants. Some of the restrictions still placed on large gatherings in Georgia led us to cancel the event. Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is ingrained into the fabric of Formula DRIFT and our multi-year relationship with MRRA remains in place. This means we’re looking forward to celebrating our return in 2021 under better circumstances and with a bigger, better event.”
